Capricorn

The Goat-Fish
Earth
Cardinal
The Big Boss
prudent, aspiring, calculated, ambitious, practical

The constellation of Capricorn is supposed to depict a half-goat half-fish. This is the constellation I understand the least in terms of connection to the Capricorn traits. I suppose goats have a certain determination associated with them, and Capricorn energy tends to be determined. Capricorn is an earth sign, which is practical, stable, and grounded. But Capricorn is also a go-getter cardinal sign, since the sun passes through it at the beginning of a season (around December 21-January 20, the beginning of astronomical winter in the northern hemisphere). This unique combination, which does not exist elsewhere in the zodiac, makes Capricorn perhaps the best at getting things done in a real, tangible way. If Cancer is the mom of the zodiac, Capricorn is big daddy. Traditionally ruled by serious, disciplined Saturn, Capricorn imbues any house or planet under its influence with ambition and gravitas. Though people with a lot of Capricorn in their charts (in the “big 3” or a stellium) may not seem very outwardly emotional, a secret sensitivity is usually buried deep down. This will usually be tolerated as long as it doesn’t get in the way of accomplishing goals.
